Alton Book Chat, established in 1999, is a library-sponsored book discussion group that meets monthly in the Agnes Thompson Meeting Room (lower-level entrance), Gilman Library, 100 Main St., Alton, NH 03809
The Gilman Library is pleased to suggest to you the Book of the Month. We have chosen something that we think you will enjoy and will want to check out and read as soon as possible.
See our display by the fireplace at the entrance to the John D. and Anna L. Williams Room, also known as the Adult Wing.
The Gilman Library offers new and classic movies to enjoy with complimentary beverages and snacks.
You will also receive a raffle ticket for coming and have the chance to win that afternoon's movie theme-related prize.
For more info, stop at the circulation desk, use our contact form, or call 875-2550.
The Alton Parks and Recreation Department and Friends of Gilman Library collaborate to sponsor a variety of fun family activities on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Events have included Book Bingo in the afternoon, Family Game Night, Family Movie Night, and Trivia Night, in the early evening.
The times are subject to change from month to month but it will always be held on the Third Thursday. Join the fun with your family, friends, and neighbors. Light refreshments will be provided by Friends of Gilman Library. For more information about this free program contact parksrec-asst@alton.nh.gov or call 603-875-0109.
If you are visiting the Whimsy Corner at the Gilman Library, with your grown-up, please ask for your Whimsy Corner Card. You can get a stamp on the card for each visit (and one on your hand, too if you'd like!). After ten visits and the card is full and you can pick a free prize, and get a new Whimsy Corner Card.
