ON SUMMER HIATUS
Granny Apple meets here with preschoolers at 10:30 AM on alternate Wednesdays during the school year. She reads storybooks, plays the guitar, teaches songs, and involves the children in interactive story-telling. Come on in and join the fun! Story Times are conducted at Whimsy Corner, in the Margaret E. Kayser Room (main floor, children's wing) during the school year, whenever school is in session. If the Alton schools are closed for holidays, vacations, or inclement weather, the Story Time normally held on that day will also be canceled. Check the library calendar for up-to-date information, or give the library a call at 875-2550.
EVERY WEDNESDAY IN JULY
“The Everywhere Man” will be performing at the Gilman Library on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 AM, through July. He will be alternating the Wednesday morning time slot with Granny Apple’s Story Time through the school year. The singer and guitarist will be providing entertainment for the preschool age group, their parents and caregivers, as well as older children and adults. You do not have to be a preschooler to enjoy his performance.
Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and designed to support the Reimagining School Readiness State Wide Initiative.
If you are visiting the Whimsy Corner at the Gilman Library, with your grown-up, please ask for your Whimsy Corner Card. You can get a stamp on the card for each visit (and one on your hand, too if you'd like!). After ten visits and the card is full and you can pick a free prize, and get a new Whimsy Corner Card.
