The Friends of the Gilman Library are sponsoring a Family Bingo
on Saturday, December 15th at 11:00 am. Santa will be joining us for a morning of family fun. There will be bingo prizes and a special door prize. Refreshments will be served. Please bring a gently used book with you. Everyone will receive a “new” book before going home.
Come into the Gilman Library and visit the Friends Corner!
The Friends of the Gilman Library will sell books, jigsaw puzzles and seasonal items. The "store" will always be open during library hours and run on the honor system (with a box for payment & donations). Come and see the little Friends Christmas tree that is adorned with handmade ornaments, vintage and gently used, and new ornaments.
All of these items will be for sale during the month of December.
Take a chance on our newest Christmas Raffle!
These two stockings will raffle for $1 each, or six tickets for $5. Hand-knit stockings donated to benefit the Gilman Library, by Betty Bell of the Alton Knitters.
We will be drawing both raffles on Saturday, December 15th, at closing.
Please help us raise donations during the month of December! Visit any Hannaford store and purchase the fresh Cookbook and use the Giving Coupon provided at checkout to direct a $5 donation to us. The cookbook contains delicious recipes that your family and friends will love. It’s a win-win! Thank you for your support.
While you are making out your Christmas Gift List, consider shopping at the Gilman Library. You can purchase an out-of-town membership for a friend or family, for $20 per year or a Gilman Library Hometown Collectible Wooden Block for $10. You might also purchase a Friends of the Gilman Library sturdy canvas book bag for $5, or support the Alton Historical Society, whose museum is in our building, by purchasing the book "Alton : a Town to Remember." While you are here, you might find some books for yourself, in our book sale.
If Alton Central School and Prospect Mountain High School are closed due to inclement weather conditions, the Gilman Library will be closed and all library-sponsored programs will be canceled. If there is a school delay, the library will be open. If inclement weather and poor travel conditions occur in the evening, on a weekend, or on a school vacation day, the library may be closed or close early, at the discretion of the Library Director. In all cases of library weather closings, please check with WMUR for the latest updates.
