Hawaiian Lap Steel Guitar Training with Danny K. Kila
Hawaii's “Danny K. Kila" (The "K" stands for "Kika"), AKA Alton's Daniel Tremblay, will conduct a hands-on training session, from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, August 26th, for those interested in learning how to play the Hawaiian lap steel guitar. There will be several guitars available for practice. Please call the Gilman Library at (603) 875-2550 to sign up or for further information.
“Danny K. Kila" will be playing his Hawaiian lap steel guitar at the Gilman Library every Thursday, from 11 AM - 2 PM beginning from now until September 18th.

We will welcome Meteorologist Hayley LaPoint at WMUR-TV as our guest speaker. Hayley has been interested in weather since she was a young girl. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and an Associate’s degree in TV News from Lyndon State College in Vermont. We will learn how Hayley uses her knowledge and experience to forecast the weather for NH residents who depend on a reliable forecast for their livelihoods, commuting, outdoor activities and events.

Extreme Heat Warning – Cooling Station Available Upon Request
Alton, NH – The Town of Alton is urging residents to take precautions as extreme heat is forecasted over the next several days. With high temperatures and humidity expected to impact the region, the risk of heat-related illnesses is elevated, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, young children, and those with preexisting health conditions.
To help residents stay safe and cool, a cooling station will be made available upon request at the Pearson Road Community Center. Any resident in need of relief from the heat is encouraged to contact the Alton Police Department to arrange access.

ALTON — Granite VNA is offering “A Matter of Balance,” an eight-week fall prevention program at Gilman Library, 100 Main St. in Alton, on Wednesdays beginning Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Participants learn to view falls and the fear of falling as controllable, change the environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance.
